Soyia Ellison is a part-time faculty member in the School of Communication and Media Studies and a full-time assistant director of communications at The Carter Center, where she oversees all aspects of communications for the peace programs. She previously worked as an associate director in the communications department at Habitat for Humanity International and as the public relations director at South Coast Repertory theater in California. She began her career as a newspaper reporter and editor, working at The Florida Times Union and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among other outlets. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree from the University of Alabama.
