Rick Crotts, Sunday business and sports editor for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, oversees story development and planning, design, presentation, copy editing, photography and graphics for both sections. He has worked at the AJC in a variety of editing and design positions since 1995.
At Kennesaw State, Rick teaches Visual Communications and Organization Publications courses.
For the past nine years, he has been teaching design, visual thinking and alternative story form courses online and in person for designers, editors, reporters and photographers for newspapers in Cox Communications around the country. Rick has also taught at Georgia State University and the University of Georgia, and worked as a design consultant for UGA's student newspaper, the Red & Black, and papers in Alabama.
Rick has been a presenter at workshops for: the Society of Professional Journalists, the Management Seminar for College News Editors at UGA, Georgia Press Association, and Georgia College Press Association. He was also the coordinator for a Georgia SND Quick Course.
A graduate of the University of Florida with a journalism degree, Rick has been in design leadership positions at the St. Petersburg Times, Orlando Sentinel, Detroit News and Sarasota Herald-Tribune (Fla.). He has received numerous SND awards for design excellence, as well as many individual state and national design honors.
