Joe Manguno is a career communications specialist. He spent 35 years as a reporter, foreign correspondent, bureau chief and editor for newspaper, magazine, radio, television and online journalist for CNN, The Wall Street Journal, United Press International and several other news organizations, including 12 years as am Asia correspondent in Indonesia, Korea and China/Hong Kong.
Manguno’s public relations/media relations career includes positions as public relations director for the New Orleans International Food and Jazz Festival, writer/editor/rapporteur for the U.S. Institute of Peace, and media relations director for Atlanta Public Schools.
In 2009, he joined CDC as a contractor for the Division of Media Relations, followed by 15 months with the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. Since October 2011, he has been communications director for the National Healthy Worksite Project.
Manguno has taught communication and journalism courses at KSU since 2010.
