Donna Beach has been a Part-time instructor in the Department of Communication for seven years. She has taught a variety of courses including Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Organization Training and Development, Organizational Communication, and Human Communication. Her educational background includes a Master of Arts in College Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from the University of Tennessee. She held a graduate teaching assistantship throughout her graduate study program.
Previous to KSU she was a principal in an Atlanta based management and organization development consulting firm providing management, leadership and organization development services to a variety of organizations. Earlier in her career she was a regional manager with Westinghouse Public Applied Systems, training and consulting division of the corporation. Prior to that position she served as adult education program coordinator with the Continuing Education Department at the University of Tennessee and regional coordinator with the Chapel Hill Training Outreach Project in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Donna has served in leadership roles with the American Society of Training and Development including national Program Chair for the National Conference and Exposition in Dallas, Texas. Also, she has served twice as chapter President for the ASTD Greater Atlanta Chapter. She has spoken at regional and national ASTD conferences.
Donna finds teaching communication courses extremely rewarding because of the opportunities for students to learn ideas and skills that will help them communicate more effectively in both their personal and professional lives. She appreciates being part of that knowledge and skill transfer that have the potential to help someone be more successful.
She lives in Atlanta with her husband and their Bichon Frise, Annabelle. She has a son who is a music educator and a daughter-in-law also an educator. Donna enjoys leisure time with her family most of all, but loves reading, gardening and being with extended family and friends.
